Field of Dreams is a specially designed baseball field that will allow children with intellectual or physical disabilities the opportunity to play baseball, to wear a uniform and play as a member of a team. FOD is a place where all our areas exceptional kids can meet on the field and play baseball. What child does not want to hear the cheering of the crowd? What child does not want to receive a trophy? And what child does not want the opportunity to play America's favorite sport? At Field of Dreams, they will, and they can.
Field of Dreams baseball is the first phase of a three-part vision the has for disabled athletes in Northeast Florida. The second portion is a boundless playground that will be beyond the right field fence. The third phase, a track where Special Olympians can compete, is a long-range goal.
Athletes from Nease and Creekside as well as the Creeks Athletic Association will volunteer to be buddies. Aberdeen Park may be in Northwest St. Johns County but the players and buddies come from all over Northeast Florida on Saturday mornings in the spring.
